Dogs are a big part of my life. I run a Facebook application called Pet Pardons with two amazing women,Ashley Owen Hill and Jamie Metcalf. Pet Pardons is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs on death row in shelters across America by finding them adopters. But, I had never personally adopted one of these dogs before. |

I am from a town in Tennessee where the general consensus is that a dog is just a dog. There are a lot of stray dogs here. Nine in my neighborhood, the last time I counted. There used to be ten. The tenth one’s name is Magoo now, and this is his story. |

Keller, Who is Blind and Deaf, Finds his Forever Home!

When people ask me about Keller, I always start the story with this: "I met him at a party, and he stole my heart." After Keller had been returned to the West Los Angeles Shelter as a "defective" animal, the Kris Kelly Foundation rescued him and placed him in the foster care of the wonderful Carole Sax, a true champion for the animals. |

As volunteers and fosters for Black Dog Second Chance Rescue, my husband and I are always opening our home to dogs in need. On November 21st, 2010, my rescue coordinator Ginny Brown Cerasani sent me an email that said there was an animal hoarding situation in a nearby town. |

Cuda is an 11-month-old Pit Bull who is clearly a result of inbreeding. Cuda could have been "culled," or exterminated at birth, or she could have become a bait dog. Instead, because she ended up with us, Cuda's funky look and personality have brought so much joy to peoples' lives. |

The name Prada typically conveys opulence, but for a 1-year-old blue Pit Bull Terrier named Prada the story is of heartbreak and one that has enacted a public demand for change.
